SundayTranslate
Walk into a service in a language you don't speak and hear it interpreted live in your earbuds, on your own phone. The same channel carries clean room audio for the hard of hearing — a hearing loop without the hardware. Fully web-based, anonymous, nothing to install.
One link, every listener
From the interpreter in the back room to the phone in the pew, in about a second.
Live interpreter
An interpreter speaks into their phone; everyone who chose that language hears them, about a second behind.
Assistive listening
The original room audio becomes an earbud channel for the hard of hearing — a hearing loop with no hardware in the floor.
AI captions
Optional live subtitles in any language to read along on the phone — Whisper transcription and Claude translation.
Any phone, any language
Listeners join with a six-digit code or a QR. No app, no account, anonymous — it just plays.
AI voice
Where no human interpreter is on hand, the phone can even speak the translation itself (experimental).
Private by design
No audio is recorded and sessions expire after the service. The write secret never reaches a listener's phone.
Everyone hears, in the language they think in.
Newcomers, guests and the hard of hearing follow the whole service — without a translator at their side or a hearing loop in the floor. They just open a link.
- No install, no account — anonymous for listeners
- Runs on the church's own Cloudflare and Supabase
- No audio recorded; sessions self-expire
Standalone — but part of the family
The tool stands entirely on its own, but shares the account, design language and golden thread with the rest of Sunday Suite.
Status: in development
SundayTranslate is code-complete across all three phases — live interpretation, assistive listening and AI captions — and is launching as a web app at translate.sundaysuite.app. Final on-device testing is under way.
